The Trunyan people live peacefully with their own ancient customs and traditions. This village, known as Bali Aga or Old Bali, is one of Bali's traditional villages. Their way of life is quite different from other Balinese communities. Instead of cremation, the Trunyan people have a unique practice for handling their deceased. Following a cleansing ritual, the bodies are placed in bamboo cages under the Taru Menyan tree, which emits a pleasant scent that masks the odor of decomposition. This tree is also the origin of the village's name. Additionally, in Trunyan, only the bodies of married individuals are permitted to be placed in these bamboo cages during funeral rites.
